Nokia 9500 MPR Application Note

Although microwave long-haul systems have traditionally used full-indoor architectures, the split-mount option has recently been considered by operators. Each solution has its own advantages and limitations in terms of system performance, ease of deployment and maintenance, level of security and space requirements. There is no “one-fits-all” solution and several parameters must be examined to determine when it makes good business sense to deploy one solution or the other. But as a general rule, it is safe to say that split-mount configurations may be more suitable for low- to medium-capacity needs, where moderate growth is expected, say up to 4 transceivers. Full-indoor configurations are a better choice for longer distances, higher throughput and more dynamic growth.
