Digitization is transforming railways. The adoption of IP-based networks and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies is enhancing safety, increasing operational efficiency and improving the passenger experience. Yet these developments increase the vulnerability of railway operations to cyberattack. Protecting today’s rail infrastructure calls for more robust communications network security with new technological and process measures.
